The Road To Hana

A not to miss activity in Maui is the Road to Hana.  An all day trip, it is worth every hour spent going to and from.  There are not a lot of miles involved because Maui is not a large island but the roads are curvy and you will run into traffic and you will stop numerous times along the way.  What makes the trip worthwhile  are the waterfalls, rainforests, parks and incredible views you will see.  You will want to hike to the waterfalls, sit on the beaches and make it a relaxing day.  This is by far one of the most beautiful drives you will ever take.  Ask the concierge at your hotel or condo for a guide for this drive, either on tape or written out.  That way you will be able to decide where you want to hike before you arrive in Hana.\r\nOne of our favorite stops on the drive is the Keanae Arboretum, amassed with amazing flowering plants.  There are several swimming holes here that will help wipe the humidity off your body!  When you reach Hana there is a short hike from Hana Bay that will reveal a red sand beach.  What a welcoming place to relax after the long drive. You may decide you want to spend the night in Hana instead of driving back to your hotel that day.  I would suggest planning ahead to do just that as you will be amazed at the beauty in the Hana area.  One of the more famous hikes out of Hana leads to the Seven Sacred Pools.  The pools are all connected by cascading water and small waterfalls.  You will feel you have totally escaped the real world when you are swimming here.  After all that is what Hawaii is all about…

For those considering staying in the area, the Hotel Hana Maui is one of our favorite accommodations in Hawaii.
